Union Station Perspective

Union Station Perspective
For this project, we were tasked with the creation of a perspective drawing of an area in Union Station. This perspective drawing was to have light sources rendered in pencil crayon.
The materials list required for this project are as follows: Tracing paper, Canson pastel paper, a ruler, 0.1 and 0.5 width pigment liner pens, a pencil, and a set of Faber Castell pencil crayons.
The materials used for this project.
To start the project, we were tasked to draw a rough perspective drawing of an area inside union station. A picture of the location was also taken for the detail done after.

After the rough sketch was done on location, a perspective sketch done using a ruler was done. This was done in this order because it is not feasible to complete a perspective sketch in Union Station using a ruler.

With the perspective sketch completed in pen, the image is photocopied onto sheets of Canson pastel paper.

With the sketch photocopied onto sheets of Canson paper, the test copies can be done. To start off, a copy is done in colour and lights and shadow are done in black and white.

After sufficient practice is done and the colours and lighting is done in a satisfactory way, the final version is started. For the final version, more care is taken with the colouring and more detail is done using the image as reference.

The Union Station Perspective project was a fun project that explored the lights and shadows of a real world setting. Although I found much difficulty in the usage of pencil crayon, after some practice the results are satisfactory. If I were to do this project over, I would have spent more time practicing the use of coloured pencils.
